There was a band of people following Jesus around as he taught them and encouraged them. They were his disciples. A rag tag group of guys that Jesus shaped up into the very people who ended up shaping the world.  We are called to follow Jesus' model and teach and encourage people as they grow in understanding what it means to follow Jesus. So that we too as disciples can shape the world.
